CEU Requirements
Massage licenses expire on August 31 of every off numbered year. The next expiration date is August 31, 2009. You can earn most of your CEUs by attending FSMAT meetings. CEU required Technique (12) Remaining general hours (6) HIV/AIDS,Florida Law and Rules (2) Ethics (2), Medical Errors (2), Total Hours required are 24. First time licensure renewals: 1 hours for each month or partial month, HIV/AIDS and Medical Errors. Graduates of a board-approved massage school who received 2 hours in law and ethics to initial licensure will not be requires to complete additional hours for renewal.

Sports Massage - 16 CEU's

Learn the distinction between full-body Swedish massage and sports specific massage, and how sports massage is used in private practice and spa settings as well as in the Sports Arena. This course will teach LMT’s the different types of sports massage, the application of stretching, how exercise affects the body, the effects and importance of proper nutrition and sleep in maintaining an athletes optimum health. How severe and extreme climate conditions affect athletic performance, athlete health and the athlete’s ability to benefit from bodywork. LMT’s will perform pre-event and post-event massages, and gain theory and practical knowledge of maintenance massage.
