Cosmetology

A high demand career with very employable market in the state of Florida for those that desire a license to include working on the public in all avenues of hair, skin, and nail services that enhance the appearance of a person. This program is approved by the Board of Cosmetology with emphasis on skilled communication adapting to the latest styling and coloring techniques, including: hair braiding, hair wrapping, and hair extensions. The cosmetology program is multifaceted which allows the student to broaden their creative abilities through hair, makeup, and nail services. A wide range of marketability for the licensed cosmetologist to work within franchise, private ownership establishment, and high-end resorts. Permanent Make-up

Permanent Cosmetics (Micro-Pigmentation) is a relatively new trend in the United States but rapidly growing in popularity. Women everywhere are discovering they have more time and less stress when they do not have to worry about applying make up daily. Techniques for application of this semi-permanent technique is similar to tattooing and requires special training beyond any previous training or licensure. Prior licensure in esthetics, massage, nail tech specialty or a medical licensure is suggested but not necessarily required by the state at this time. Nail Technician

The program follows the course outline for a standard Florida State Board approved curriculum for Nail Technology licensing with special emphasis on massage of hands & feet. Students will perform manicures (hand), pedicures (feet), nail applications, and be able to perform massage to the hands and feet with emphasis on foot reflexology relaxation techniques (certificate for foot reflexology has been added to the curriculum which gives Bonita Springs School students an edge in today's market and an advantage for job placement). There will be a review of the latest equipment for nail tech/spa treatments. A High emphasis is placed on hands-on practice, which results in Nail Techs developing and maintaining a loyal clientele with major opportunities and job placement. Students of Nail Technology with an interest in instrumentation may want to attend the post-graduate education seminars held on a quarterly basis. This program is designed to teach range of motion active and assisted exercise for conditioning, flexibility, and personal fitness training, beyond the level taught in the 503 clock hour massage program. The class will present knowledge, latest research and practical application of aerobics, water exercises, stretching, use of machines and cross training for other sports. Emphasis will be placed on muscle strengthening and weight training as is typical in physical therapy. Students will be able to design exercise programs and teach them in the class, so the students complete the class well prepared for a position as a personal fitness trainer. Marketing techniques, resumes, and motivation of learners are incorporated. The class is personalized to meet the needs of students and includes hand-on training. The program is open to the general public, students, and licensed therapists for a certificate, and will assist in preparing the individual to take the National certification test given by ISSA. For individuals interested in practicing as personal fitness trainers, personal training is an unregulated profession in the State of Florida. However, most employers require a certificate. ISSA is recognized as a worldwide leader in the sports and fitness world by educating over 80,000 health professionals including fitness and athletic trainers, coaches, physicians, chiropractors, and physical therapists. Nutrition

Nutrition Counciling for Licensed therapist and personal fitness trainers as well as facial specialists. This instruction is an adjunct to other licensures and certifications and is no way a dietician diploma. The certification program does require an exam proctored by ISSA and also offers an ITEC exam for international diploma.Nutrition is everyone‘s subject of conversation and interest today, now that science in the last decade has proven a natural diet is best for prevention and cure of life‘s top 6 diseases.

 

The program concentrates on current research on contemporary lifestyle factors, disease prevention, and natural diet. Conditions such as cancer, and diabetes will be the main concerns along with some accents on herbology, juicing, and detoxification. Oriental Medical Shiatsu Massage

This program is designed for continual education for LMT‘s and additionally certifies for transfer of credit to other licensed states that require additional Shiatsu hours such as New York State Licensure.
