The objective of this program is to enhance the abilities of professionals in massage therapy, skin care, fitness training and spas to manage and staff a new or purchased business and to give them the skill needed for management to be and stay successful in today‘s market.

 

Management and marketing skills are essential for successful business operation by those who are entrepreneurs, managers or self-employed. This program enhances the abilities of professionals in massage therapy, aesthetics and skin care, fitness training, and spa therapists to manage and staff multi-personnel facilities that offer services in these areas of health care. Managers usually receive a yearly salary plus commission on therapies performed by their employees. All the essentials of basic business are included with special emphasis on the relationships between management and the health care professionals. Resort Hotels, Cosmetology/Skin Care Salons, Spas and Massage Establishments all need human relations managers to direct a well-run, full-service operation. Individuals may desire to attend the program to learn fundamentals of small business management or for their own self-employment.

 

 

Program Outline:

Class Hours: 5:15PM—10:15PM Wed. and Thurs. Evening or Sat. 9:00am to 5:00PM

MGMT8 – 1 Management Principles: Explanation of duties and requirements of person in management capacity. 10 CLOCK HOURS

MGMT8 – 2 Time Management: Understanding how to plan and manage time because time is money. Learning to prioritize. 5 CLOCK HOURS

MGMT8 – 3 Accounting Basics: Overview of how to keep records, billing, ordering stock, payroll, and cost points for running a profitable business. 15 CLOCK HOURS MGMT8 – 4 Communication: Basic learning how and what to say to employees, employer, and Customers to build business relationships. Being able to handle difficult situations. 10 CLOCK HOURS

MGMT8 – 5 Law Requirements: Basic understanding what is required to open a new business and maintain a business within state, local, and federal law requirements. 10 CLOCK HOURS

MGMT8 – 6 Marketing Basics: Basic knowledge of how to make your business known within the community. Networking. Advertising, Designing Website, Social Media. 20 CLOCK HOURS

MGMT8 – 7 Stress Management: Learning when to say NO! 5 CLOCK HOURS

MGMT8 – 8 Ethics: Learning right and wrong within the business community. 5 CLOCK HOURS
